It is with great sorrow that we share that Dr. Matthew Thompson has passed away.
We have lost our dear friend and trusted leader at Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center of New Mexico. Dr. Matthew Thompson, MD, was not just a founding physician at DSCCNM but a unique and multidimensional individual. His presence significantly enriched the lives of his colleagues and patients, leaving an indelible mark on each of us.

Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He served over a decade of active duty in the US Navy. After retirement from the military, he returned to his home state of New Mexico, where he has been a dedicated leader in dermatology for the Albuquerque community for more than 25 years.

We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. T. His passion and wonderful sense of humor were truly his greatest gifts, and we are all the richer for the time we shared with him. We will remember him for his vibrant spirit, unwavering commitment, and genuine care for each of us. Dr. T left a lasting, positive impact on his patients, our community, our professional discipline, and his family at DSCCNM.

We are currently scheduling Dr. Thompson's established patients those who have been seen within the last 3 years, with next available appointments with our providers who have openings in their schedule. This may delay your regular follow-up appointment time frame for which you normally schedule with Dr. Thompson. We ask for your patience at this time as we know there exists a shortage of dermatology providers in the state of New Mexico.
